Winter Storytime

Spinning Stories, Weaving Words and Cultivating Magical Vision

During the dark time of year we gather for story and music to uplift the spirits and gently guide the soul as we all journey between the worlds, through powerful nighttime dreaming, and within the subterranean oceans within the sacred geologies of our past. We offer the de-light of our “being together” as a kind of delicious food and liquid joy to the Goddess of the Hearth. May Her Light be strong!

My hope is to reach out to the magic-maker inside of us, through our own imaginations, and go on an adventure together. In this way, it isn’t so much about the details of my story, but how the story speaks to you and engages a process of inner motion, like a ritual migration to the place where magic is alive inside of you, to a place where your own story, your own intuition, beckons you to visit.

Maybe we will remember something forgotten?

Maybe we will remember something in a new way that will release a certain kind of luminosity or healing or joy?

Or maybe, we will simply receive the nourishment and ritual enlivening that happens when we stop, listen and allow ourselves the luxury of sinking into the flow of the story with the fullness of our being……

Jahanara is a brilliant writer whose wordsmithing makes me feel inside the story, under the trees, on the floorboards, in the junk shop! The musical breaks that she incorporates, with encouragement to move, makes the story fly for this listener who does better with less sitting.

I really have enjoyed being a part of your classes. When I started with you, I had lost my way home. The light in the light house on the stormy Ocean of my ancestral grief, you are a beacon of light, life, and sisterhood… a shade tree rooted in the divine essence of life giving sap. My tool box has become grand because of your teaching. I’m able and confident to access my magical tools to help guide me on my way home – songs in my heart and on my tongue, guided by your grace and gentle encouragement. Sometimes I see you on a magical carpet or a captain on a ship, elegantly navigating a way that life sprouts from your path. Thanks for inspiring us!

Jahanara teaches in an integrated way, she weaves together knowledge, skill, experience and creativity to inspire and welcome you into a deep knowledge of yourself and life. She is a talented musician and a gifted story teller and I have been fortunate to study both of these things with her. I love learning her original songs inspired by prayers. Her music awakens my spirit, bringing more richness to my life.

Jahanara has been swimming through the richness of life, gathering insights, awareness, presence; the stones and branches of life that became the gems and treasures of her teachings, stories, art and music. It is as though The Holy called out, “help me come into people’s lives and hearts…” And she listened. And she listened. And the music and stories poured out in a way that we could hear The Holy, too.
