Morocco Retreat

Ancient peoples, like the indigenous Amazigh of what we now know as Morocco, learned to navigate by the stars through a shared intimacy and deep conversation with the land and the cosmos around and within them that most of us moderns have lost. How did they do this? There is a modern Arabic word called, “adab” which is often translated as “etiquette” or “manners,” but from a deeper spiritual context speaks to how we approach or the path or way that we take toward both our outer and inner landscapes that strives to foster true respect. From this point of view, how we bring our hearts and desires to the “stars” that guide us, how we honor and feed the beauty of the natural world around us, how we treat ourselves and others, matters.

Adab has everything to do with the WAY we go about doing things… the way we see, listen, move and respond in every moment, because it matters to our soul and to the soul of Life. It is this Adab, which forms the very bedrock of real culture, that helps us to grow the ability to converse eloquently with all life around us

…and is this adab that lives at the heart of Moroccan life and culture

…you can see it in the extreme beauty of the textiles and the artistry of the dwellings,

…taste it in the hospitality and the aroma of the food,

…and you can feel it because it is the very atmosphere that surrounds you!

It is our great pleasure to invite you into a living experience of this still-remembered ancient fabric of being, into the beauty of joyful devotion and surrender which can be experienced

Through story, singing and gentle movement, we coax the heart to try again, to take risks, and to practice letting go… again and again, into the generosity of the Universal Heart, into the Love at the heart of everything.
